A group of UEHS chemistry students recently attended the American Chemical Society (ACS) Awards Dinner, where two of our students were honored for academic excellence.

Hadrian Pezzino and Tristan Huff received ACS Awards for finishing with honors in the Southern Tier—an achievement open to students from up to 50 schools. Both students completed a rigorous qualification process that included three exams and a challenging lab.

Joining them at the event were Emmalee Jobmann, Annika Shabazz, Lauryn Kunkel, Alex Palombaro, Colin Azzarella, and Ahmed Hanzala, who attended to support their classmates and take part in the evening’s program.

All honored students received Barnes & Noble gift cards in recognition of their accomplishments.

The awards dinner celebrated student achievement in chemistry across multiple levels—high school, college, and PhD—and included a 30-minute talk on the components of light and its role in chemical research.
