Olympic rings

UEHS Class of 2016 graduate Emily Mackay returned home to share her journey as a Emilyprofessional runner and Olympian with our students. As a New Balance Boston running team member, Emily has achieved incredible success, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Her visit started where it all began—AGM Elementary—before heading to GFJ and JFS, where she spoke with students about her career, signed autographs and answered various questions. From how much she runs (a staggering 60-80 miles per week!) Emilyto what she eats (a well-balanced diet) and even whether she has pets (yes! Two cats named Luigi and Mario!), Emily shared the ins and outs of her life as an elite athlete.

Her final stop was UEHS, where she reunited with former teachers and coaches, reminiscing about her time as a student and athlete here. Seeing Emily back in the halls of UEHS was a full-circle moment—proof that dreams can come true with hard work, passion, and perseverance.

Emily, thank you for being such an inspiration and a role model for our students. Your dedication and achievements remind us all to “dream big!”  We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!
