Kindergarteners in Kristin Lemon-Hoyt and Jessica Buchman’s classes celebrated the holiday season by diving into winter traditions from around the world. Throughout December, students learned about global holiday customs and received festive cards from people worldwide, including Australia and England! The excitement of receiving these cards sparked curiosity and joy as students discovered how different cultures celebrate the season.
To conclude the unit, students shared their own family traditions, embracing the diversity and magic of the holidays.
On the final day before winter break, the holiday festivities continued with CFJ’s beloved annual reading of The Polar Express. Greeted by “Conductor Jon” (Principal JonMichael Shea), students used their imaginations to journey to the North Pole. The adventure ended with a special surprise for everyone who believed in the holiday spirit—and at CFJ, everyone does!
