What is wheat? AGM second graders found out in this month’s Ag in the Classroom with the Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE)—and they had a blast doing it!
To kick off the holiday season, students used wheat to make their very own gingerbread playdough. They started by grinding wheat seeds into flour, mixing in salt, ginger, and cinnamon, and adding water. With some teamwork and a little elbow grease, they transformed the ingredients into delightful, fragrant playdough!
The fun didn’t stop there! The students let their creativity shine by shaping their playdough into tractors, stick people, and of course, gingerbread men.
The classrooms smelled like a holiday bakery and students learned an exciting connection between farming, science, and creating. Hands-on learning has never smelled—or looked—so good!
We love seeing students make these farm-to-classroom connections! Thank you, CCE for these learning opportunities!
