UEHS Key Club has been active in the local community this spring with recent community projects.
First up was Earth Day with the group working to clean up areas of Endicott. After school on April 19, Key Club joined the Spanish Club to clean up Washington Avenue. With the help of trash picker tools from the UEHS custodians, twenty-two students got rid of garbage along the street and sidewalk. On April 21, they cleaned up the UEHS parking lots, the playground at the community center, and the riverbank walk behind the high school.
To bring some joy to residents in assisted living centers, students collected nearly 100 crossword, word search, sudoku, and adult coloring books to enjoy at local nursing homes and care facilities. The students also made bookmarks using stickers and their artistic skills to be placed in each donated book. UHS Senior Living at Ideal, Abslout Care, Mercy House (all in Endicott), Hilltop Campus (Johnson City), and Willow Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Care (Vestal) will all receive these donations.
Coming up on Memorial Day, Key Club and Veteran’s Club will join forces to place American flags in front of the high school and district office in honor of its importance.
