CFJ kindergarten students in Therese Yacobelli’s class had an incredibly enriching and exciting week of learning! First up, sled dogs. Dale and Mary Pitcher, from ‘Sled Dogs of Smokey Hill’, discussed the Iditarod Dog Race. They talked about the dogs and the commands used to direct them on the trail. Students stood on an Iditarod sled while holding the musher’s stance.
As part of their weather unit in the science curriculum, Mitchell Gaines from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), discussed all things weather! Mr. Gaines talked about the different seasons and the weather associated with each season. Demonstrations like the oversized weather balloon and tornado bottle made complex concepts more tangible and memorable for the students.
These hands-on learning experiences engage and inspire our young learners. Thank you to our community partners for taking the time to share your knowledge with our students.
