Valentine’s Day is a day to spread kindness and love and students at GFJ did just that as part of Valentine’s Day Cards for Seniors Initiative. In its first year, Senator Lea Webb hosted this event, inviting local schools to create and write Valentine’s greetings for seniors living in local care facilities.
Reading teacher Jennifer King helped coordinate the effort at GFJ. Students put their artistic and writing skills to work creating these tokens of joy, joining together to foster community engagement, and spreading love. On February 9, Senator Webb visited the school to pick up the cards.
Senator Webb said, “It was wonderful to see them channel their passion and creativity into the Valentine’s cards they created for our seniors in nursing homes and adult care centers across the Southern Tier.”
Thank you to our GFJ staff and students who participated in this initiative.
