A group of high school seniors, including Madison Buckly and Natalie Decker from UEHS, collaborated with peers from neighboring districts to establish the business InnoVision as part of the Broome-Tioga BOCES New Visions Business Academy. InnoVision undertook the entire business process, from product identification to business plan creation, goal setting, and product development. Their products are a canvas tote bag with the message "Mental Health Matters" and a set of three charcoal pouches designed to eliminate unwanted odors. Each member had specific roles in the company, ranging from sales to finance, accounting, and marketing.
In a noteworthy achievement, InnoVision recently hosted area industry leaders at the Koffman Incubator to present their company. The young entrepreneurs successfully generated over $6,000 in gross profit, and commendably, they donated $4,500 to the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier. The New Visions Business Academy is an academically challenging program for college-bound high school seniors, that real-world experiences in business, health, engineering, and law & government. Applicants with a minimum GPA of 90% undergo a rigorous selection process, which includes writing an essay and completing an interview. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn four high school credits.
