UEHS held its first Summer Drivers Ed class this year. Coming off successful fall and spring drivers ed courses, it seemed fitting to continue to offer this class in the summer. 18 students are enrolled. Classes meet Monday to Thursday from July 5 to August 10. Students meet every day for theory and then are assigned drive periods with three to four students in each group that drive for 90 minutes. Over the three-course offerings, nearly 100 students have logged 9000 miles of driving. The summer program offers the same curriculum as the fall/spring semester courses, preparing students to take the state driver’s test. Students interested in taking the course in the fall, spring, or summer should contact their guidance counselor. Students must be 16 years of age with a valid NYS driver's permit.
