In September, tragedy struck Route 11 Labradors in Marathon when the owner was woken by the sound of barking dogs to find their house consumed by flames. Within minutes, everything was lost. When the UEHS Technology Department heard about the devastating fire and the kennel's needs, they stepped up to help. Guided by teachers Corey Munn and Mike Wichowski, students took on the project of building a new doghouse, handling everything from design and measurements to construction. Over the next month, they crafted a custom doghouse, complete with a charming painted bone-shaped sign.
The doghouse was delivered to Route 11 Labradors last week, bringing with it a deep sense of community care and compassion. In a heartfelt message, the kennel owner shared, “This week has been an emotional roller coaster, and the simple fact that someone took the time to have his class make this was a wonderful thing. I can't even fully express how this makes me feel.” The project has been a powerful reminder of the kindness that unites a community in times of hardship.
