Now in its second year, the Teacher vs. Teacher basketball game has become a highly anticipated event at JFS Middle School. Organized by the PTA with support from school leaders, this event fosters school spirit, encourages student engagement, and strengthens the bond between staff, students, and families.

The game features teachers volunteering to compete in a friendly yet competitive basketball matchup. To ensure fairness, the teams are divided up based on playing experience for a balanced and exciting contest. The entire student body is invited to watch their teachers go head-to-head on the court, cheering them on throughout the game.

Adding to the excitement, each quarter break features interactive student games with opportunities to win prizes. These moments not only keep the energy high but also provide Teacher vs teacherstudents with a chance to participate in the event beyond just being spectators.

The success of the Teacher vs. Teacher game is made possible through a collective effort. Families and staff contribute by donating concession items and raffle prizes, while volunteers assist with event entry, game supervision, and announcing. One of the biggest highlights is the chance to “pie a building leader.” For a one-dollar donation, students could enter a drawing for the opportunity to throw a pie at a principal. At the end of the night, five names were drawn per principal, leading to a hilarious and much-anticipated conclusion to the event.

With enthusiastic participation from teachers, students, and families, the Teacher vs. Teacher basketball game is a new, favorite tradition at JFS Middle School. This event not only entertains but also strengthens the school community and school spirit, making it a win for everyone involved.
