JFS celebrated the second year of the House System with a kick-off event. Current seventh and eighth graders joined together in their houses to welcome the newest sixth-grade members. Students practiced their house chants and cheers and participated in a number of team-building games and activities.
During the 2022-23 school year, the House system was introduced with four houses, Altruisom, Amistad, Isibindi, and Reveur, making up the whole of one JFS house.
The philosophy of the House System is to make a school within a school, build a community of learners connected across the grade levels, and develop the kind of behaviors that schools want to see in their students including academic excellence, effort, good character, and school spirit. Throughout the year, points will be awarded to houses with students who exhibit these traits and other positive characteristics.
