As the new school year approaches, the staff at JFS have been working hard to welcome our newest Tigers in the Middle.
Over three days, students who attend this program begin their transition from elementary to secondary education. Transportation is provided and students begin the day in the cafeteria with breakfast. They meet teachers, navigate the building, review their schedule, change classrooms, learn how to open their locker, and do project work in a variety of subject areas. Incoming seventh- and eighth-grade students served as ambassadors, guiding the new students through the building, answering questions, and sharing their experiences at JFS.
As the start of the school year approaches, this program is a way to help minimize any concerns or anxiety students may have when transitioning from elementary to middle school.
A big thank you to the staff who worked so hard to make this year’s academy successful and to our student ambassadors who volunteered their time to welcome our newest Tigers in the Middle.
