On Monday, March 27, the Binghamton Black Bears visited with CFJ students as part of the “Bear Down on Reading” program.

Players visited each classroom to read a book to students. Then they answered all the questions students had for them, including many about being a hockey player.

For the month of March, students participated in a reading challenge coordinated by Haleigh Cleveland, CFJ long-term sub librarian.

Reminding students of the importance of reading Ms. Cleveland created a friendly game of bingo. Students filled out bingo boards with 25 different reading prompts. Once students completed the board, they handed them in for an invitation to a special event Binghamton Black Bears.

A total of 77 students completed the challenge and were invited to a special floor hockey event in the gym. Black Bears players showed off their skills and then got to practice their skills alongside the players.
