UEHS technology students tested their building skills using cans of food for the Kids CAN Build program. Sponsored by Visions and Broome-Tioga BOCES, this program challenges students to design a structure and then build it out of cans of food.
The team was inspired by a rubber duck, wearing sunglasses and a Hawaiian shirt. “Sir Quacksolot” is made from 3,164 cans and water bottles and weighs 3,962 lbs.
Different teams from 18 area schools are participating with judging taking place today, March 27. Once the program is over, all the cans will be donated to CHOW.
Technology teacher Mike Wichowski and the following students designed and built their structure in the UEHS Tree Room. Gavin Bowman, David Mazzarese, Andrew Jiang, Dustin Verno, Patrick McGuinness, Coral Keller, Amelia Swavola, Kathryn Pascarelli, Sydney Ziemba, Lauren Kneer, Noah Anderson, Rose McKertich, Mitchell Taylor, Tommi Hanselman, and Zach Diefendorf.
