CFj white table

For over a decade, the fourth- and fifth graders at CFJ have been participating in a deeply moving veterans tradition to honor our veterans. Every year, the students gather in the cafeteria, where a white table stands in the center of the stage—a powerful symbol of sacrifice and remembrance. Local veterans are introduced and, with quiet pride, share brief reflections on their service. Teachers then read the book America’s White Table, a poignant story that helps the students understand the significance of Veterans Day. As the story unfolds, the veterans join in by placing symbolic items on the table, each representing honor, courage, and the profound sacrifices made for our country. When the reading ends, the students raise their voices in song, expressing gratitude in the sincerest way they know. Afterward, students eagerly ask questions, connecting with the veterans in personal and meaningful ways. In class, teachers deepen the learning experience, discussing the importance of Veterans Day and the values it celebrates. This tradition is more than a ceremony; it is a heartfelt tribute, a lesson in gratitude, and a reminder of the bravery that has shaped our nation.
