Students learned just what life can be like when Visions Federal Credit Union hosted the “Life is a Reality” event at UEHS.
Students in business and economics classes were assigned a “salary” and went through stations that made them face tough financial choices on how to best budget their monthly income. Budget stations included clothing, housing, food, and entertainment.
In addition, the Life is a Reality wheel was spun that either deducted or added funds depending on where it stopped. Did students get a flat tire, lose a cell phone, or win $20 from a lottery ticket? Unplanned expenses and income were part of the budget planning.
For many of the students, it was an eye-opener into the financial challenges they will face as adults. Many of these students will graduate this June, and the world is waiting for them. This event strives to better prepare and educate our students on the importance of working hard, balancing finances, and being smart with money.
