Students in Spanish Club are embracing the culture in Costa Rica on their cultural exchange trip to this beautiful country.
They had a cooking class where they made corn empanadas, a traditional Costa Rican snack made from corn flour. They also made juice from sugarcane with a juice press.
An important part of this country is the They learned about sustainability. An agriculture engineer showed them how to make soap and they learned the importance of sustainability, composting, and creating fuel from bioreactors (methane).
The next stop was a local artisan studio where students saw how pottery is made. They visited the Thermal Springs where they enjoyed the beautiful sunset at scenic viewpoints.
Another highlight was playing soccer with some local students. It was a fun, cultural exchange as students practiced Spanish and made new friends.
