A unique opportunity provided to students in the business career pathways is taking a field trip to New York City. Business teachers Michelle Gee and Mike Nagorny accompanied the students with the first stop at Madison Square Garden.
Tour guides provided details on the history of MSG, the many famous actors, musicians, athletes, and politicians who visited the iconic arena, and the importance of branding and maintaining the consistency of MSG for decades. On the day they toured, the band KISS would be performing that evening and students got to see crews begin to transform the arena for the performance. They visited VIP lounges and saw the front end of the Knicks and Rangers locker rooms.
Following the tour, students walked to Times Square to look at the billboards and corporate advertising along with other various tourist spots. And no trip to NYC would be complete without going to Rockefeller Center to see the tree that heralds from our friends across the river, Vestal!
This field trip allows business students the opportunity to explore careers, tour businesses and get a feel for what it is like in a big city. Past tours included Yankee Stadium, the financial district, and ad agencies. The business department would like to thank all who made this trip possible and the school district that supports Career & Technical Education for our students and provides these opportunities!
