Our Union-Endicott UPK teachers recently gathered in March for a special professional learning session focused on the new NYS Science Everywhere Unit on Birds. This initiative, spearheaded by the New York State Education Department, encourages Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) for prekindergarten students, nurturing a passion for science and nature through hands-on exploration.
Led by our dedicated educators and supported by Broome-Tioga BOCES facilitators, the session highlighted engaging lessons and activities designed to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in our youngest learners. Check out the photos featuring our enthusiastic professional learning team and students from Endicott Preschool actively participating in these enriching experiences!
Additionally, we extend a heartfelt thanks to The Literacy Legacy Project and Broome County Executive Jason Garner for their generous contribution. Each Union-Endicott Kindergarten student received a copy of the captivating story "Jabari Tries" by Gaia Cornwall, along with bookmarks and caregiver extension activities. What a delightful treat for our budding readers!
Stay tuned as we continue to foster a love for learning and exploration among our youngest Tigers!
